Even though the task is huge, we definitely find it easier to complete these days.

We are so fortunate to be living in this day and age. A lot of issues experienced by students who came before us are no longer of concern. Use these positives and write a booming personal statement. This does not mean that it is easy as pie, but it definitely is easier than the prior years. We live in a digital age and this might partially affect the way we get things done. We understand that we have more options available. Experts say that 2019 will be even better for students writing personal statements. Here why?

1. Less academic tone

The tone in writing has changed a lot. If you had to write a personal philosophy statement a few years back, it needed to sound very professional. Now, we are more relaxed in our writing. In fact, a relaxed tone is preferred. This makes it easier for students to write without having to completely alter their voice or vocabulary.

We have had spell checkers for a long time, but there are some great grammar checkers popping up. This just makes writing so much easier. You simply scan your first draft through a grammar checker and you end up with an improved SOP.

Even if you are not a writer by heart, it is easier to learn the basics in 2019. There are so many free writing courses online. It has never been this easy or accessible to students. There is no cookie cutter personal statements anymore. Students of today have more freedom with their writing. It’s great for those who like to showcase their individuality. Doing things that might have been out of the norm before, could now be a plus. Having hobbies is no longer considered separate from school. We can now celebrate our individualities in personal statements.
