At this point, you may have probably read about the different benefits of combining your PDF into a single file. By doing this, you will save a lot of storage space. Plus, it makes your desktop neater. Sometimes, looking for a PDF can be a tedious task, especially if you have hundreds of files on your computer.

So, merging files is a good idea. But the next question is, how? Generally, there are three ways for you to do it: Online, via Computer, and Mobile. If you don’t have any idea how to start, let us help you with that.

#1 Using an online PDF tool

One of the fastest and most convenient ways to merge pdf files is through an online tool. PDFBear is one of the most popular and most reliable online PDF converters in the market. This web-based tool is guaranteed user-friendly. Once you have accessed their website, all you need to do is to follow these steps:

Select and upload the PDF files that you want to merge. You can select from different folders from your computer as well. It doesn’t need to be saved in one folder. Also, there is an option for you to drag and drop the files on the tool. Once you have dragged or selected all the documents, PDFBear will automatically scan and process your files to merge. You don’t need to click on anything.

You can do some modifications, such as arranging the pages. But once you are satisfied with the way it was merged, you can click on Combine or Merge.

It’s not time to download! Depending on your Internet speed and size of the file, the download process should be done in 2 minutes. Aside from saving it on your computer, you will also have the option to save it in your Dropbox folder. It’s as easy as that.

#2 Using a computer

It’s known that there are different types of operating systems on computers. You have Windows and Mac. Regardless of which operating system you have, you can still use it to merge a PDF file. Let’s begin.

Combine PDFs on Windows

Adobe Acrobat DC is the best optimal solution for merging PDF files. It’s a guaranteed software produced by the same organization that created PDF. Adobe Acrobat DC also gives you an option to convert other Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files to PDF. Although you need to pay for the software, you can still check it out through its free trial. Tip: the paid software is a little bit costly.

The process of combining PDF through Adobe Acrobat DC is pretty easy as well. The only difference with online is that you have to install their software. Once installed, you have to open it using your computer, select the files that you want to merge, add as many as you need, then combine.

Take note that using the free version of the software may have limitations such as the maximum number of files allowed and the maximum size. After conversion, you can save the file on your computer.

Unfortunately for this software, you won’t have the option to export it to an online cloud. You have to save it first then manually upload it to your Dropbox or Google Drive, when needed.

Combine PDFs on Mac

One of the hidden gems of Apple computers is its Application called Preview. It’s pre-installed, free software. The process of merging PDF files through Preview is pretty easy as well. All you need to do is open the app, drag and drop the individual page in the software, and convert. You will also have the option to rearrange the files before you convert them.

Using Preview is indeed efficient. However, the downside of this Application is that it only works for jpeg or other image-related files. Unfortunately, Preview doesn’t allow you to convert document and presentation files into a PDF. Hence, you may still need an Adobe Acrobat DC for Mac to merge PDF documents.

Using Mobile Devices

Since more online users are now active through their mobile devices, there’s no doubt that some people would want to do all the work through their smartphones or tablets. Lucky for them, there is an option to merge pdf through Apple and Android devices.

There are various mobile applications for both iOS and Android that you can download on AppStore or PlayStore. Most of these apps are pretty self-explanatory. It’s the ideal choice if you need to urgently merge PDF files. However, take note that mobile applications are limited features.

So, it’s not ideal for bulk conversions. It’s only for when there is no access to a computer. Another factor to remember is that when merging using a mobile device, it means that all the single PDF files should be saved on your mobile or a cloud. Otherwise, you won’t be able to upload it. But for on-the-go and handy merging of PDF files, mobile apps are a good way to consider.

#3 Merge PDF in more ways when you need it

Despite the accessibility of online, desktop, and mobile means to merge PDF files, it’s still up to you to choose the best way in combining and safekeeping your documents. All you need is a bit of research and familiarity with the tool. And if all didn’t go well, you can always try all of them.
