LiquidVPN Review- Fast & Secure VPN Tool

By Ashutosh Jha → Last Updated on Monday, October 24, 2016
Due to the increasing number of online security issues, a need has arisen for more secure and fast VPN services. I have personally used many VPN services for security and to access censored sites. I recently came across LiquidVPN and will be discussing my findings below.
LiquidVPN was founded in 2013 by Dave Cox, a network engineer with over 15 years of experience building networks for IBM.

LiquidVPN is comparatively new but focuses more on user security rather than just expansion. Their aim is to expand their presence in the most connected locations around the world to better serve their users. They have made a standard for the key parameters of networking like privacy, net neutrality, usage policy, hardware, redundancy, traffic, peering, and bandwidth that data centers must meet before they consider adding servers there.

LiquidVPN Review

LiquidVPN is a robust VPN service and is an ideal solution for those who are looking for a more secure, fast and affordable VPN services.

The only drawback I found with LiquidVPN is, they have a fewer numbers of data centers than some of their competition. Patty, their director of business development, says

"We will always favor quality over quantity. We are able to offer our customers better connectivity by providing many servers located at major regional data centers then we could by offering a few servers in more countries."

LiquidVPN offers a feature called modulating IP which helps you to keep on changing your public IP continuously providing better security.

It also offers a custom VPN client for most popular operating systems. LiquidVPN doesn’t store any user logs and maintains all the standard encryption techniques.

Features of the LiquidVPN Service

LiquidVPN includes 48 servers in 18 cities spread across 11 different countries with access to over 2000 public IP addresses. The user will also have access to LiquidDNS. LiquidDNS is encrypted zero log DNS service created by LiquidVPN and users can make use of it whenever they connect.
Using LiquidDNS, the user can experience excellent browsing speed and also access their Smart Streaming service. Smart Streaming allows you to stream USA and UK content from any of their locations.

Here is a summary of the features LiquidVPN provides-

• You can choose among the following four IPs- Shared IP, Public IP, Modulating IP, and Dedicated IP.

• LiquidVPN provides apps for Windows, Android, iOS and Mac. If you are a Linux user also, you can connect to the app through some third party services

• If you have Windows and Mac desktop, then you can also use the feature called Liquid Lock. It is a firewall and kill switch where all the traffic will be halted if your connection drops.

• There are around ten different VPN ports, and you can choose any of these. Bandwidth, port and server switching is all unlimited. LiquidVPN does not restrict BitTorrent traffic or P2P filesharing. It even works with US Netflix.

• It supports multiple connections. The maximum connection can go up to 10 which is ideal for a family or a small team.

• The company offers a 7-days money back guarantee till the time you will hit 5GB of data.

Best Performance

The VPN has been optimized for performance and speed. These are optimized to meet the need of today’s broadband and fiber users.

They have dedicated hardware at tier 3 data centers with at least 1-gigabit uplinks which are being serviced and upgraded for top performance.

Shared IP VPN

It is the general topology used by most of the companies. Shared IP is the protocol for all the VPNs like OpenVPN, SSTP, L2TP, and PPTP.

With shared IP, you can have a degree of anonymity because IPs are shared between other LiquidVPN users.

After the test, I can say that LiquidVPN is one of the fastest VPN services I have used. Below are the couple of images which have been taken before using VPN and while using LiquidVPN.
As you see, there is minimal difference between the two tests.

Support is the backbone of any company, and LiquidVPN considers this very carefully. They have their dedicated support team available through email.

You can expect response and resolution in minutes during light traffic and in hours during heavy traffic. But one thing is sure that you will receive a response quickly.

Data Logging

Data logging is the process of storing some logs of your behavior on their servers. Ideally, no company should save this but some VPN provider store the user logs for a week or longer.

The good thing with LiquidVPN is, they don’t store any user logs and so your privacy is completely secured.

I would suggest you check their privacy policy to make sure you completely understand what they do and do not save.

LiquidVPN offers different options for the safety of its customers. In additional to the basic PPTP, L2TP and SSTP encryption, they also offer 256-bit encryption on their OpenVPN servers.

All OpenVPN connections through the LiquidVPN app uses AES-256-CBC encryption which is the best encryption provided natively by OpenVPN.

The tool also comes with some useful extra features like automatic connections and a kill switch which terminates the session whenever the VPN fails.

Pricing & Plans

LiquidVPN comes with three different pricing plans to meet everyone’s needs. Below are the details of their pricing-
If you are an individual, Sidekick plan at $7 per month will work where you can connect two devices at a time.

If you want to connect a number of simultaneous devices, $10 or $18 plans will work best for you.
The company provides 100% money back guarantee within seven days which is excellent. They also accept almost all the major payment systems like credit or debit cards, cash, PayPal, BTC, etc.

Setup and interface

Setting up the LiquidVPN tool is very easy. All you have to do is download the tool.

Once downloaded, install the tool and log in through the devices you want. The GUI will be displaying your current IP address, topology, and VPN protocol and connection time.

Here you can also select the location you want the IP to show. The other settings can also be adjusted via the settings menu.

Wrapping it up!

LiquidVPN is a fast, reliable and affordable VPN service provider.

They support team is also very quick to get you out of any technical glitches. We recommend you give them a shot if you are looking for a new VPN service. Just remember they offer a 7 Day or 5 GB refund policy.
